Help › Backing up
“Anything on your network can reach the stored backups”
The server's console warns, under Settings → Storage and protection, that Anything on your network can reach the stored backups.
Why
Servers installed before version 0.4.9 accept storage connections from anything on the network, including a request to delete. New installations are protected from the start; an upgraded server keeps its old setting until you change it, because PCs on older versions cannot identify themselves and would be locked out.
What to do
- Upgrade every PC to the current version.
- Look at the list on that page of what has connected without identifying itself in the last day. When it is empty, every PC is ready.
- Press Allow only enrolled machines.
A PC still on an old version will then be refused until it is upgraded. Nothing is lost; it backs up again once upgraded.
