Privacy policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

The short version: your backups stay on your equipment and we never see them. We hold only what you send us when you buy from us or ask us for help.

1. Who is responsible

Pranay Mohite, trading as BuzzNeuron, of Sama-Savli Road, Vadodara 390008, Gujarat, India. Contact: pranay@buzzneuron.com.

2. The BackupMate software

BackupMate runs entirely on computers that you own. We do not receive, and cannot access:

  • your files, or their names;
  • your backups, or where they are stored;
  • your encryption passphrases or keys;
  • the names or number of your computers;
  • how, or how much, you use the software.

The software contains no telemetry, analytics or advertising. A licence is checked by your own server and is never verified with us.

The one connection it makes

Once a day, the BackupMate server requests a small public file from this website (https://backupmate.buzzneuron.com/version.json) to learn the latest version number. The request contains no identifier, no licence detail and no information about your computers or your version. As with any web request, our hosting provider sees the internet address it came from. You can switch this check off in the server's console under Settings → Support. The BackupMate program on your other computers makes no connection outside your network.

Diagnostics files

You may choose to export a diagnostics file and send it to us when asking for help. It contains the software version, its log, its settings, the names of your computers and the names of the folders being backed up. It does not contain passwords, encryption keys, enrolment tokens or the contents of any file. It reaches us only if you send it. We use it to solve your problem and delete it when the matter is closed, and in any case within 12 months.

3. This website

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and loads nothing from third parties. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs (such as internet address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use those logs to identify visitors.

4. When you buy from us

To sell you a licence and issue a lawful invoice we collect: your name and your organisation's name, your email address, your billing address, your GSTIN or other tax number if you provide one, your server's ID, and what you bought. We keep invoice records for as long as tax law requires.

Payments are processed by a payment provider. We never see or store your card number, bank login or UPI PIN. The provider handles that information under its own privacy policy, which is shown to you when you pay.

5. When you contact us

If you write to us by email or WhatsApp we keep the conversation, and anything you attach, so that we can help you and refer back to it. WhatsApp messages are also handled by WhatsApp under its own terms; use email if you prefer.

6. What we use it for

Only to supply and support what you bought, to send you your licence and invoice, to remind you before a licence expires, to tell you about a serious problem affecting the software, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it.

7. Who we share it with

Only with those who help us run the business, and only what they need: our payment provider, our email provider, our hosting provider, and our accountants. We disclose information to the authorities when the law requires it.

8. Keeping it safe

We keep what we hold to the minimum, restrict access to it, and use reputable providers. No method is perfectly secure; if a breach affected your information we would tell you.

9. Your choices

You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so unless the law requires us to keep it, as with invoices. Write to pranay@buzzneuron.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.

10. Children

BackupMate is sold to businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes

If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If the software ever began to send anything more than section 2 describes, we would say so here and in the product before it did.
